If you live in a climate where you experience darkness and chill in the air within some point in the year, you can appreciate the feeling when the warmth of sunshine finally peaks through and sweeps across your bare skin. As the sun infiltrates your body, you immediately begin to feel your eyes smile, sensing an uplifting energy that carries on with you throughout your day. Suddenly, a whole new host of outdoor activities come to mind, along with desires of refreshing yet indulgent summer treats. Ah, the powerful effects of some good ol' Vitamin D.
Piña Colada, anyone?
With it being a solid 80° here for the past few days in DC, I continuously found my mind trailing back to hues of coral blue (hello, ocean) and cold summer desserts (yep, ice-cream thats you.)
What I'm here to share with you today is that 'indulging' in a summer treat doesn't mean you have to sacrifice all the hard work you already put in to your healthy lifestyle. There are indeed ways to get around all of those enticing, yet heavily rich drinks and desserts without sacrificing the flavor.
What's so (n)ice about it?
Let's use this recipe as an example! It...
- Contains 5 ingredients or less.
- Is made entirely of plants.
- Devoid of added or artificial sweeteners.
- Contains the superfood camu-camu, the world's most abundant form of Vitamin C!
This treat's got all the feels.
It literally only takes 1 minute to whizz up the base, and its simplicity really gives you the opportunity to let your creativity and blender run wild.
Banana (N)ice-Cream w/ Raspberry Bliss Swirl
For the base:
3 bananas, frozen
splash of almond milk
For the Superfood Raspberry Bliss Swirl
1/2 C fresh blackberries
1 tsp Philosophie Berry Bliss Powder *Get 10% off your order using code: satyahealth
squeeze of fresh lemon
Directions: Place frozen bananas and splash of almond milk into blender, and blend on high speed until mixture resembles a soft-serve consistency. Note: you could just stop here and eat it as is!
If you want to go all in with the blackberry swirl, combine the rest of ingredients in a separate blender (or wash out banana first), and then combine.
In a serving dish or glass, spoon out the banana soft-serve, then layer or drizzle blackberry swirl on top. Garnish with blackberries and let your taste buds dance.
TIP!*The riper the bananas, the better. They'll be more sweet and easier to blend. Have your bananas be frozen for at least 6 hours or overnight prior to using.
Stay tuned for more ice cream adventures as the real spring & summer is just around the corner! ;)
